2nd part of our wonderful journey!

Hey! We’re back with another blog! This time, it is to talk about entering the 2nd phase of our journey in the absolutely wonderful N.E.mation competition! This time its time for the selection of the top 40s from the top 100s. a really huge step forward i must say!

So, if you have been following us, we have shared our first moments of entering this annual competition called N.E.mation. This year’s theme is: Together We Overcome. Our group submitted a poem based on the theme πŸ™‚

After the brief workshop and talk conducted on Saturday, we were left with Sunday to work on presenting our idea to the judges come the following Monday. We spent our time at Bishan library planning and designing slides to give our best shot for the Top 40s selection. We allocated our speech lines amongst the 4 of us and rehearsed it over and over again until we knew it like we know the back of our hand.

Come Monday, we did our best in convincing the judges that our idea was better the others together with the judges questioning us on our poem and our commitment issues.

Later that day, the top 40s results were announced. Nerve-wrecking time!!! :/Some of the teams had heads held high while some others were grasping each other’s hands. We were just talking amongst ourselves about the pile of homework waiting for us to touch and clear.

Then the instructors called out each team leader to collect an envelope with the team name on it. We, however were instructed not to open it until further instructions were given. Some teams began shining their envelopes in the light, figuring out what was inside while we were patiently waiting for the instructors to announce the results.

Finally, Mr Ellery, Mr Joshua and Mr Wei Xiong came in with a round of applause. We really thought the results would be announced fast as it was fast approaching night time. However, they decided to hold us back. πŸ™‚ Mr El told us to open our envelopes but only the shapes of triangle, circle, square and star were different. Most of us tried peeking at our neighbours shape to see what shape they have gotten. Almost all that we saw were different. 😦

Knowing that we would be eager and a little impatient, Mr Ellery told us not to panic and he started laughing. He finally disclosed the results and our lucky square got us into the top 40s!!! We were over the moon but at the same time, we knew that we would hv to wait to do our homework because it was late. Really late.

Scanning the huge crowd, we noticed tat some were jumping for joy while others were brought to tears. Our team suddenly felt sorry for those who unfortunately didn’t make it through. Mr Ellery gave them some words of encouragement and told them not to give up but to give it a go again next year πŸ™‚

Afterwards, the top 40s were told to stay back for a while more to take photos πŸ˜€
